This absolutely beautiful oak TV unit was fabricated by one of our customers using our rustic air dried oak.
Most items of furniture like this are made from joinery oak which is either kiln or air dried. This is great for a certain look, but joinery oak does lack in character. The client wanted to see character in the oak but also wanted a contemporary style. We were asked by the joiner Karl to help.
We used some very old air dried oak beam sections. The oak was in excess of 10 years old so had an absolute minimal sap moisture content, but if course where it was air dried it had the atmospheric moisture still. We cut and braced the oak in our drying booth for enough time to reduce movement as much as possible.
Karl then machined the sections to size before starting work on the unit. The finished product I think you will agree looks absolutely stunning.
It really should be with the work that went into it. Right from the cutting and preparing of the oak to the beautiful craftsmanship of the joiner Karl coming together to make a truly timeless piece of furniture.
If you are interested in the style of this unit then please get in touch. We would also be very happy to put you in touch with Karl who made this peice.
